Some of the most important decisions affecting Minnesota’s arts community happen long before a vote is taken at the Capitol. They happen when people come together, share what they are seeing in their communities, and decide how we can speak with a stronger, more unified voice.
We’re looking for people who want to be part of that work.
Minnesota Citizens for the Arts (MCA) is accepting applications for our Board of Directors. Board members help shape our statewide advocacy strategy, strengthen relationships with policymakers and communities across Minnesota, and help ensure that the arts remain a priority for our state.
Together, MCA and our advocates help protect and advance more than $50 million in annual public arts fundingdistributed through the Minnesota State Arts Board and Minnesota’s Regional Arts Councils.
But we aren't looking for just one kind of Board member.
We want artists and arts leaders. We want community advocates and business professionals. We want people from Greater Minnesota and the Twin Cities. We want people with deep advocacy experience, and people who are ready to get more involved for the first time.
Most importantly, we want people who care about what the arts make possible in Minnesota and are willing to bring their voice, experience, relationships, and perspective to the table.
You don't need to know everything about advocacy to serve on MCA's Board. You need to care about the arts, be willing to participate, and want to help make a difference.

Help Our Work By Supporting These 2 Important Organizations
As we head into the General Election, your support of Minnesota Citizens for the Arts (MCA) and the MCA PAC is more important than ever. Supporting both MCA and the MCA PAC gives us two important tools: MCA advances arts advocacy and education, while the PAC helps build relationships with arts supportive caucuses and future policymakers. Together, they strengthen our ability to advocate for the arts before, during, and after the election.
President Signs Continuing Resolution
Yesterday, after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a Continuing Resolution (CR), President Trump signed the measure into law, extending federal funding through December 11, 2026. The CR provides continued funding for federal agencies during this period.
The extension provides some stability for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) through the November elections.
Congress will still need to address long-term funding for the remainder of FY2027. Your advocacy remains important to ensure strong federal support for the arts and our cultural agencies!
