Cadmium Paint Prohibition Update
As MCA continues to monitor Legacy dollars and other state arts funding, we will work to give you updates on other bills proposed at the Capitol that affect the arts. One current bill we wanted you to be aware of is SF826 which will eliminate the prohibition against artist pain that contains cadmium. It sounds like many legislators are open to possible changes and we expect a House companion bill announced this week as well.
As other bills pop up MCA will give you updates on bills we think are important to track.
Update from our National Partners at Americans for the Arts
We wanted to make sure you saw an update from our national partners at Americans for the Arts (AFTA) on the recent Executive Orders (that were rescinded) and how they will be responding.
AFTA also lists changes to the NEA's grant programs for FY26 that include newer guidelines and deadlines. This also includes the cancellation of the "Challenge America Grant Opportunity" to focus NEA staff resources on the Grants for Arts Project category.
