Federal Update
Right before Congress left for summer recess, the U.S. Senate Interior Appropriations Subcommittee released its FY’26 bill with $207 million each for the NEA and NEH—a major victory at a time when many federal agencies face cuts. This progress wouldn’t be possible without your advocacy. While the House has proposed only $135 million each, the Senate’s bill is an important first step.
When Congress returns in September, both chambers will vote on their bills, and amendments threatening arts funding are possible. If no agreement is reached by September 30, lawmakers may need a Continuing Resolution to avoid a government shutdown.
If you haven’t already, please contact your member of Congress and urge them to support full funding for the NEA and NEH.
