Exciting Announcement!
Important Addition to MCA!
We are excited to introduce a transformative addition to our organization—the MN Citizens for the Arts Political Action Committee (MCA PAC). This new organization we created under the MCA umbrella represents a strategic effort to enhance our advocacy and influence on behalf of the arts community.
What is the MCA PAC?
The MCA PAC is a distinct entity designed to operate independently from MCA’s regular funding. Its primary focus is to build and strengthen relationships with policymakers who can support and advance the interests of the arts sector.
We understand that creation of a new initiative like the MCA Political Action Committee (MCA PAC) might raise some questions. We want to share why this is a crucial and exciting step for our community and how it will benefit us all.
Amplifying Our Voice
Think of the MCA PAC as a powerful megaphone to individual legislators for our collective voice. Having a dedicated fund and strategy for political advocacy allows us to be heard more clearly and effectively. By pooling our resources, we can make a stronger impact on the policies that affect our industry.
Building Stronger Relationships
Building relationships with policymakers is key to creating lasting change. The MCA PAC enables us to establish and maintain connections with those who can influence arts-related legislation. These relationships are essential for ensuring that our needs and concerns are understood and prioritized.
Transparency and Accountability
We understand the importance of transparency. The MCA PAC will operate with clear guidelines on fundraising and expenditures. This ensures that every dollar is used effectively to support our advocacy goals and maintain the integrity of our mission.
Long-Term Benefits
MCA members and leadership have always worked outside of the organization to raise money to do this work, but it was always unofficial. By investing in advocacy today, we’ve laid the groundwork for a more supportive environment for the arts in the future. This initiative helps us create a sustainable framework for ongoing support and growth.
We’re excited about the possibilities that the Arts PAC opens for our community. Your support and involvement are vital in making this a success. Together, we can shape a brighter future for the arts and ensure our voices are heard where it matters most.
Thank you for considering this important step with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out—we’re here to discuss and address them.
Nothing changes the great work we do together at MCA. That work remains the centerpiece of our strong advocacy work for the arts. Thank you for being the strongest arts advocates in the nation. And thank you for considering fortifying our work as we continue to grow even stronger for our next 50 years. Together,
Sarah Fossen
