The Arts, Public Policy, and Building Stronger Communities
Join Minnesota Citizens for the Arts’ Executive Director Sarah Fossen for a thought-provoking conversation with Jamie Bennett, one of the nation’s leading voices at the intersection of arts, culture, and public policy.
They will explore how art doesn’t simply reflect society, it can shape public policy, strengthen civic life, and influence how communities respond during moments of profound change.
Sarah and Jamie will discuss the roles that art and artists played in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd, and why the civic response in the Twin Cities, including the Metro Surge movement, looked different here than it has in other communities. They will challenge us to think differently about the power of culture to influence public life, build community, and inform public policy.
