COVID-19 IMPACT SURVEY FOR ARTISTS AND CREATIVE WORKERS
Yes! Minnesota's arts organizations have been doing a great job participating in the COVID-19 IMPACT SURVEY FOR ARTS ORGANIZATIONS organized by Americans for the Arts (AFTA) which will give us information we need to advocate for them with elected officials.
AFTA has now started a similar survey to track the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on artists and creative workers which is designed to capture the financial and creative impact of COVID-19 on creative workers, highlight the resiliency and generosity of the creative sector, and make sure that the 5 million creative workers in the U.S. are supported and heard during this ongoing crisis and the eventual recovery.

IN MINNESOTA:
NEW! NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS GRANTS FUNDED BY THE CARES ACT
The NEA received $75 million from the CARES Act will provide some opportunities for Minnesota organizations to get access to special grants.
- Forty percent fo the funds will go to State Arts Agencies to provide direct grants for the arts in the state. The Minnesota State Arts Board does not yet know what their process will be to get these dollars out to the field.
- There will also be an opportunity for previous NEA grantees from the last four years (Fiscal Year 2017-2020) to apply for additional special one-time grants directly from the NEA by April 22.
"The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act recognizes that the nonprofit arts industry is an important sector of America’s economy. The National Endowment for the Arts will award funds to nonprofit arts organizations across the country to help these entities and their employees endure the economic hardships caused by the forced closure of their operations due to the spread of COVID-19. These funds are intended to help save jobs in the arts sector and keep the doors open to the thousands of organizations that add value to America’s economy and the creative life of our communities."
NEW! ARTIST RELIEF FUND
A consortium of funders announced the creation fo the Artist Relief Fund, a $10 million national emergency relief fund for artists and creative workers that will provide $5000 no-strings-attached grants. It is intended for anyone who earns income from their creative or artistic practice and who has also been affected by COVID-19. They are taking applications now so don't wait!
