ACT NOW TO HELP MN FEDERAL ARTS FUNDING
Minnesota's Federal arts funding is at a critical crossroads in Washington, D.C. These vital funds—supporting everything from local theaters and school arts programs to community centers and veteran services—now face an unprecedented threat.
Recently, the House Appropriations Committee proposed a drastic cut to the budgets of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), slashing each to $135 million—a 35% decrease from the current $207 million. The Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to take up their own budget proposal for NEA and NEH funding in the coming weeks.
NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION FOR THE ARTS. CONTACT YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TODAY!
This isn’t just about funding—it’s about:
- Children discovering their creative voices in our schools
- Veterans finding healing through art therapy
- Local businesses thriving from cultural tourism
- Our community preserving its unique cultural heritage
Currently, federal arts funding amounts to just 62 cents per person - less than a quarter of today’s average cup of coffee. Supporting an appropriate increase would help ensure these vital programs continue serving our community.
When arts programs flourish, our entire community benefits. But right now, both the NEA and NEH face severe budget cuts that could devastate these programs. Together, we can ensure our community’s creative future remains bright.
