Mary Minnick-Daniels

Mary Minnick-Daniels, Region 7E Greater Minnesota member, has served as Executive Director of the East Central Regional Arts Council, Braham for the past 2 years and was also Arts Director for the East Central Regional Development Commission from 1996-2011; for a total of 15 years with the Regional Arts Council. She also worked as a community development planner in the Regional Development Commission system from 1993 -2011. As a volunteer she has served on the Pine City Schools Curriculum Committee for four years and was a member of the NE District Childcare Resource and Referral grant review team. Minnick-Daniels also served as a board member and was a two term executive committee member of Minnesota Rural Partners. She has been active in the Forum of Regional Arts Councils of Minnesota since 1996 serving as Vice-President and President from 2003 to 2006 when she transitioned to a staffing position with the organization until 2009. Minnick-Daniels has had a lifelong passion for arts and began attending Minnesota Citizen’s for the Arts Advocacy Day in 1994. Her favorite quote is one from Robert Gard’s Arts in the Small Community (1969) “Let us start by acceptance, … that the arts are important everywhere, and that they can exist and flourish in small places as well as in large; with money, or without, according to the will of the people. Let us put firmly and permanently aside as a cliché of an expired moment in time that art is a frill. Let us accept the goodness of art where we are now, and expand its worth in the places where people live.”
