Jamie Andrews, featured by Musical America as “Top 30 under 40” arts education administrators in 2012, serves as Education Director for the Minnesota Opera, a position he has had for twelve years. In this position he has developed award winning programs that engage teens in performing opera, like Project Opera and Summer Opera Camp, and imagineopera.org, an opera education specific website for teens. For K-12 students he has developed coOPERAtion!, a community-wide art making program, and an interactive in-school residency program that includes Through the Eyes and Ears of Mozart, an introduction to opera for elementary students.Prior to working at the Minnesota Opera, Jamie was a public school music teacher in Forest Lake and Lester Prairie, Minnesota. Jamie earned a bachelor’s degree in music education at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, who awarded him their “Distinguished Recent Alumni” award in 2008. In 2013 he participated in OPERA America’s Leadership Intensive, a program to identify and nurture future opera industry leaders. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Arts and Cultural Management from St. Mary’s University.
