Arts Alert: Minnesota’s Rep. Betty McCollum Takes Charge of Federal Arts Funding

Democrats have gained control of the U.S. House, putting Minnesota’s Rep. Betty McCollum (D- St. Paul) in power as the new Chair of the Interior – Environment Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee, which controls federal cultural funding, including funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.

We are thrilled and looking forward to supporting her work, as she is one of the most vocal supporters of the arts in Congress. Pres. Trump has repeatedly proposed eliminating all arts funding, but Congress has not only refused to eliminate it but has added funding for arts and culture each of the last two funding cycles with bi-partisan support.
